Celtic Transfer Target Admits He’s ‘Ready’

Celtic linked Sondre Ørjasæter has signalled he is now ready to leave Sarpsborg, reigniting the Hoops’ interest.

The Norwegian winger was close to a switch to Glasgow in January, but at the time felt a move to the Hoops was too early in his career. That stance has now shifted, with the 21-year-old openly admitting he feels prepared to take the next step in his career.

Celtic saw a £4million bid rejected earlier this year, but Ørjasæter’s form and maturity since then have only strengthened his value. Celtic remain keen on the versatile attacker, who can play on either wing or through the middle, and he continues to feature on Brendan Rodgers’ summer shortlist. Sarpsborg, aware of growing interest, are reportedly seeking closer to £7million if they are to sanction a deal.

Ørjasæter has impressed in Norway’s top flight with his pace, directness, and goal threat, traits that would fit well in Celtic’s front line. His development over the past six months appears to have answered the questions he had about himself in January, clearing a path for potential talks to resume between the clubs.

While Celtic are expected to be active in the market as Rodgers reshapes his squad for the Champions League qualifiers and another go at a domestic treble, Ørjasæter’s public stance could accelerate efforts to finalise a deal. The player remains calm about the situation, but his openness about a possible move offers encouragement to those at Celtic.

He said: (TV2), “Now I feel ready to take the step, while I am doing well here with full focus on Sarpsborg. But a transfer is not something I think about very much.

“I think that if it happens, it happens. It’s not like I’ll be depressed if there’s no transfer.”

Ørjasæter’s relaxed attitude shows a young player who believes in his own progress. He’s not letting the talk of a move affect his performances, which could help him stay sharp if a transfer does happen.

From Celtic’s side, the timing might be right. Ørjasæter now feels ready, and Sarpsborg could be more willing to sell, though they want more money. Celtic may need to raise their earlier £4million bid, but his age and versatility still make him a solid option for the future.

With the transfer window open and pre-season just around the corner, things could move quickly. Celtic have acted fast in the past once a target is lined up, and Ørjasæter’s latest comments could help restart those talks.

It’s now up to the club to decide whether to push forward. The interest is still there – and so is the chance to get in ahead of other clubs.
