Respected Journalist Rubbishes Celtic Transfer Story

Respected journalist Alan Nixon has backed up our assertion that Rabbi Matondo’s link to Celtic is nothing to write home about at the moment.

Nixon was asked about the rumour when it was claimed by Wales Online, the international winger could be on his way to Celtic this summer.

We wrote about the link yesterday, but did warn our readers it sounded like a story pushed by the player’s agents and not driven by anyone inside Celtic Park.

Nixon has backed that up by claiming the player has been linked with a lot of clubs ion recent times.

Rabbi spent last season on-loan to Cercle Brugge where he played very well in Belgium’s top flight. The Welshman is heading back to his parent club FC Schalke when pre-season kicks off, but his club appear keen to sell.

Matondo’s future is up in the air which means his agents will be working hard in the background to make things happen. It means making many clubs available of the player’s availability and potential fee involved in signing him.

As we wrote yesterday, Celtic are inundated with agents looking to punt their players. We exclusively revealed last season The Hoops were offered Sol Solbakken from Bodo/Glimt BEFORE he ended up helping knock Celtic out of the Conference League.

Celtic won’t be silly enough to dismiss every agent offer and might look into one or two when they’re offered an interesting option.
