Celtic Make Contact Over Ambitious Calvin Stengs Deal

At CeltsAreHere we make it our business to dig into every Celtic transfer rumour that surfaces. Some stand up, many don’t.

This summer alone we’ve chased plenty of names that led to cul-de-sacs, but our digging has also put us ahead of the curve – breaking the news that Callum Osmand was on his way to Celtic and revealing Jahmai Simpson-Pusey’s signing before anyone else.

That’s bri today’s rumour from a returning social media account talking about Calvin Stengs caught our attention. After doing our own digging, we can confirm there IS substance to this one. We can report, Celtic have reached out to the Feyenoord winger’s representatives in the past week to sound out interest and explore the possibility of a move.

BUT.

To be clear, we understand no direct contact has taken place between Celtic and Feyenoord at this point. But it’s common practice for clubs to establish a player’s situation through their camp before opening dialogue with the selling side. That initial move suggests genuine intent rather than idle speculation.

Stengs, 26, is a Dutch international with pedigree across the Eredivisie, Ligue 1, and Belgium before becoming an important player for Feyenoord. Technically gifted, with creativity and vision in the final third, he would add the sort of proven quality Celtic fans have been crying out for this summer.

Convincing Feyenoord to part with him won’t be straightforward. Stengs is highly valued in Rotterdam and remains central to their plans. Any deal would demand serious financial commitment and negotiation, but the fact Celtic have already opened a line of communication with his camp is notable.

Supporters have every right to be cautious after a flood of names linked in recent years months that never got off the ground. But our checks tonight show the Stengs story isn’t baseless chatter – there’s something there. Whether it progresses into firm talks with Feyenoord is the next step, and it will be worth watching closely in the weeks ahead.
