Reports linking Celtic with a move for Manchester United full-back Tyrell Malacia have been shut down, with the player’s camp insisting there has been no contact from the Scottish champions.
Dutch outlet VI revealed they had spoken to people close to the Netherlands international after the rumours emerged. Malacia’s camp were said to be surprised by the claims, confirming that the only offer on the table for the 25-year-old is from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club.
Malacia was previously linked with Celtic back in January before Jeffrey Schlupp arrived on loan, but that move never materialised.
While Celtic and Brendan Rodgers are expected to target a left-back in this window to provide cover for Kieran Tierney, Malacia will not be that man.
Summer signing Inamura caught the eye in pre-season but hasn’t made the matchday squad for either of the opening two league fixtures, with Liam Scales shifting to left-back during games and Auston Trusty brought on to slot into the central role.
Brendan Rodgers has praised the Irishman’s versatility.
Celtic do need some new faces in, especially in the forward areas, but one injury to Kieran Tierney and it’s not good looking at left-back, with a lack of quality depth.
