Celtic have topped one impressive list after last night’s game at Celtic Park against Bayern Munich.
With Celtic Park often renowned for the atmosphere it creates on European nights, one aspect that often goes under the radar is the number of supporters who attend games at Celtic Park across all competitions.
Ahead of last night’s game, it was a sellout against Vincent Kompany’s side, with tickets never even reaching general sale, as they sold out before non-season ticket holders had a chance to buy them.
The number of UEFA delegates at the game affected how many supporters Celtic could allocate tickets to, but the Hoops certainly made the most of Celtic Park’s 60,411 capacity.
Bayern’s away allocation of 2,900 tickets reflected UEFA’s standard 5% requirement for away games across all European competitions. It was great to see a noisy away support, something that has sadly been lacking in Scotland in recent years due to issues beyond Celtic’s control.

Despite not financially matching some of Europe’s best, Celtic’s support remains among the best in the world.
Celtic supporters are what make the Hoops the team they are, with their consistently high season ticket numbers and willingness to buy club merchandise so often.
The numbers at Celtic Park week in, week out have improved incredibly over the last 12 years.
Flashback to games under Neil Lennon in his first spell and during Ronny Deila’s tenure, and season ticket numbers weren’t as strong for understandable reasons.
But now, Celtic are back where they belong among the world’s best, with the football now beginning to match the dedication that supporters put in.
