Former Celtic midfielder Scott Allan has voiced concern over the club’s lack of movement in the transfer market, warning that Brendan Rodgers’ squad has not strengthened from last season.

The 33-year-old, who spent three years at Parkhead, pointed to Rodgers’ own comments about continually improving the squad as a benchmark the club are currently failing to meet.
With the Champions League qualifiers fast approaching, Allan fears Celtic risk falling short if reinforcements do not arrive quickly.
Adam Idah, signed permanently last summer after his loan from Norwich, has been given the nod to lead the line in recent games.
However, Allan believes the Ireland striker has not shown enough to suggest he can be the long-term answer. He argued that Celtic need more competition and quality in that area if they are to match Rodgers’ ambitions.
The former midfielder also highlighted the fact that Celtic have lost players from last year’s squad without adequately replacing them, making the lack of new signings even more pressing. He believes the Hoops must act before the window closes to avoid stagnation both domestically and in Europe.
He said: (BBC Sportsound), “He (Brendan Rodgers) was speaking after the Bayern Munich game about trying to be better than they were every other year.
“So, bring in players, can we strengthen, can the squad be even 10% stronger than it was last year?
“At this moment in time, it’s not, I think we’d all agree on that. They’ve obviously lost players.
“Idah’s been given the chance to play up front and, looking at him today, I can see why Brendan Rodgers is wanting another player in that position to come in. He hit the ground running.”
Allan’s comments reflect a growing unease among supporters over the club’s summer business, or lack thereof. Celtic have so far failed to deliver the kind of statement signing many expected, especially after Rodgers’ repeated calls for improvement.
Up front remains a particular concern. While Idah impressed in his initial loan spell, his performances since returning have been inconsistent, leaving question marks over whether he can lead the line in the biggest games.

Without Kyogo’s sharpness and movement, Celtic risk becoming predictable in attack.
Rodgers has stressed the importance of adding quality over quantity, but with key fixtures looming, time is running out to address the gaps. Failure to strengthen could see Celtic’s domestic dominance challenged and their European ambitions cut short.
With the transfer window clock ticking, the pressure is now firmly on the Celtic board to back Rodgers and ensure his squad has the depth and quality needed for the season ahead.
