Former Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes has backed Andy Robertson to join Celtic, with just a year left on his current deal. At 31, Robertson is entering the twilight of his career.
Having featured in the Celtic youth setup from the age of nine until 15, Robertson is a lifelong Hoops supporter — and the one thing he hasn’t achieved in his brilliant career is playing for the Celtic first team.

This could pave the way for a sensational Robertson return to Celtic Park, linking up with his Scotland teammate Tierney — and Morientes believes the Liverpool star would relish the chance to end his career in green and white.
He said: (CasinoHawks), “Andy Robertson has spoken about Celtic and it’s probably because he’s thinking about it. He is 31 and coming towards the end of his career.
“When you’ve been at a team like Liverpool for a while and you’re approaching the end of your career, you always have to take a step back eventually.
“But of course, the team we’re talking about is also a powerful team in the Premier League. But I think if he has a special bond with Celtic and the club recognises him as an important player, then it could be possible.”

Whether Celtic supporters would welcome Robertson may divide opinion, but there’s no denying he remains one of the best left-backs in the world. Yes, he’s on the way down — but jumping from winning the Premier League with Liverpool to signing for Celtic would be an unbelievable statement of ambition from the Hoops.
Robertson and Tierney at left-back — the dream duo. Two players who live and breathe Celtic, and who have gone on to achieve incredible things in their careers. Ending it together at Celtic would be a powerful homecoming and create a highly competitive position for the Hoops.
The ball is in Robertson’s court. If he wants to join Celtic, follow Tierney’s lead, take a wage cut, and return to Glasgow, the Hoops support will be right behind him. It would require a significant drop in salary — but at 31, having earned considerable wages throughout his career, Robertson may now be looking to end his career on a high, at the club he grew up supporting.
