If you’ve not been living under a rock the past few weeks or even months you will know there has been interest in Nick Powell from Celtic since the summer.
The bhoys have been looking for a replacement for Stuart Armstrong since his departure to Southampton early in the summer window.
However, as the window slammed shut, Wigan were unwilling to sell their player and were convinced they could get Powell signed to a new deal.
Over the past week or so it has become clear the player has rejected the terms put in front of him and he may be looking for a move in January and if Wigan would still not let go then a pre-contract to move in the summer.
This has alerted Celtic to the 24-year-old’s availability but the bhoys are not the only club with interest in the Championship star.
Burnley and West Brom are both looking to sign the player during the January window with both able to spend a pretty large fee to sign him on the spot rather than wait.
Celtic would be at a disadvantage if this were to be the case because the board won’t sanction a big money deal for a player whose contract has four months to go.

However, Celtic can legally talk to Powell in January and if they can convince him his future lies in Glasgow, they could very well still land him.
Powell is an attacking midfielder who has so far scored four goals and made four assists in 12 league games this season for Wigan.
