Celtic are set for a potential reunion with former loanee Alex Valle this summer, after confirming their participation in the newly-launched Como Cup.

In a twist of timing, Valle was confirmed as a permanent Como player earlier today — the same day Celtic announced their involvement in the tournament. The Spanish left-back has signed a five-year deal with the Serie A side, keeping him at the club until 2029. The reported transfer fee stands at €6 million, following a successful loan spell that saw him help Como secure top-flight survival.

Valle spent the first half of the 2024/25 campaign in Glasgow after joining Celtic on loan from Barcelona. He featured regularly under Brendan Rodgers and played a role in the Hoops’ Premier Sports Cup triumph before being recalled by his parent club during the January window.

Rather than return to La Liga, he was sent straight out to Italy and quickly became a key player for Como. His performances impressed enough to earn him a permanent move, and now a likely clash with his former side just months after leaving the Hoops.
As Celtic prepare for another demanding campaign at home and abroad, the Como Cup offers a sharp early test against quality opposition. A potential meeting with Valle only adds an extra layer of excitement to pre-season ahead of the new season.
