Former Celtic defender Steven Pressley has been appointed as the new manager of Dundee, replacing Tony Docherty following the club’s underwhelming Premiership campaign.
The 51-year-old returns to Scottish football’s top tier after leaving his role as Brentford’s player development boss last week. His appointment marks a fresh start for the Dens Park outfit, who finished third from bottom last season and are aiming to steady the ship ahead of the new campaign.

Pressley brings a wealth of managerial experience in the past, having previously taken charge at Falkirk, Coventry City, Fleetwood Town, Carlisle United and Cypriot side Paphos. He also held roles within the Brentford setup, further rounding out his coaching credentials.
Best known in Celtic circles for his spell at the club between 2006 and 2008, Pressley added experience and leadership to Gordon Strachan’s side during a period of domestic dominance.

Pressley won the league title and lifted the Scottish Cup while at the Hoops, after joining from Hearts in the twilight of his playing career.

The Scottish Sun report joining that Pressley in the rebuild at Dundee is David Longwell, who has been named the club’s new technical director. Longwell has worked across several clubs and footballing cultures, including spells at St Mirren, Burnley, and MLS side New York Red Bulls.
Dundee fans will be hoping the experienced duo can bring structure and direction after a turbulent season. For Pressley, it’s a return to the frontline of Scottish football and another opportunity to make his mark from the dugout.
