Celtic Tipped to Go Back in for Failed Medical Defender

SUNDOWNS BOSS Pitso Mosimane has shed more light on the transfer deal that never happened back in the summer window.

Rivaldo Coetzee’s deal to Celtic looked signed and sealed as the window drew to a close. However, an injury flagged in the player’s medical made Celtic drop the deal.

After that Sundowns jumped to the front of the queue and signed Rivaldo from Ajax Cape Town on deadline day.

Speaking about the injury to the Evening Times – the Sundowns manager reveals it was not as bad an injury as first feared and thinks Brendan Rodgers will come for the player again.

He does not have to go through an operation which would rule him out for nine months like everybody said. He will soon be back, I think three months maybe. The specialist gave us a report and we are happy with the report. I think when Brendan Rodgers sees the medical report again, he will be willing to have another look at the player again. Brendan Rodgers speaks so well about the boy because he has been watching his games. He has international experience. Just wait, Rivaldo is a good investment.

It’s a strange scenario when a team that has just signed Rivaldo are so willing to promote the player to Celtic. For Rivaldo himself, he was devastated when the move fell through and is hopeful to move to European football in the near future.

It remains to be seen if Rodgers will come back in for the defender.
