Celtic Supporters Told Summer Signing Will Light Up Parkhead

Benjamin Nygren has been tipped to make a major impact at Celtic, with goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo insisting Hoops supporters are in for a treat.

The Swedish forward arrived from Danish side Nordsjaelland and is already generating a buzz ahead of his first outing in green and white. Nygren is in line to feature in Saturday’s behind-closed-doors clash against Estrela da Amadora in Portugal.

While fans will need to wait a little longer to see him in person, Sinisalo has already offered a glowing verdict on the 24-year-old, who he came up against on several occasions at youth level in Scandinavia.

The Finnish keeper revealed Nygren was a standout talent during their international battles as teenagers, often playing above his age group and attracting interest from top clubs across Europe.

He said: (RecordSport), “I’ve played against Benjamin quite a few times when we were youth internationals.

“We’re the same age and there’s a little bit of a rivalry going on with the Finland v Sweden situation.

“I think he scored a couple against me for the under 17s or something! I remember he was always the main man when we played them. There was always a lot of talk about him, with various clubs looking at him. At under 16 and 17 levels, he always played a few groups up as well.

“He’s a great guy. He’s close friends with one of my friends back home as well so I know a lot about him. I’ve got nothing but good things to say about him.

“He’s got a lot of ability but he’s also a very nice guy, he’s very down to earth and looking to work as hard as he can.

“I’ve been really impressed, but it’s no surprise. He’s a brilliant, athletic, footballer, who is very good on the ball.

“We are going to see a lot from him this season.

“I think Celtic fans are going to be very excited watching him.”

Nygren is part of a reshaped Celtic attack heading into the 2025/26 season, with Brendan Rodgers looking to sharpen his squad for what lies ahead. The Swede’s skill on the ball and sharp movement have already stood out in training.

He can play across the front line, giving Rodgers extra options as he fine-tunes his forward line for the new campaign.

Fans will get a clearer look in the coming weeks, and there’s already a feeling Celtic might have picked up real value for money.

For now, Nygren’s first test comes behind closed doors this weekend, but if Sinisalo’s verdict is anything to go by, he won’t stay under the radar for long.
