Brendan Rodgers has continued to address his comments made after Sunday’s win against St Mirren, ahead of tonight’s game against Dundee United pre-match.
Rodgers asked for greater patience from Celtic supporters when the Hoops move the ball backwards to create space in the opposition on Sunday, and questioned why supporters also chanted Kieran Tierney’s name at full-time, which the Irishman felt was disrespectful to current left-back Greg Taylor.
He said: (BBC Sportsound),”I think it happens at every ground, don’t get me wrong, this isn’t just Celtic Park. This happens at every stadium, but of course, the impact on players can be different when you’ve got 60,000. But I don’t really want to add too much to this story. This was something I mentioned after the St Mirren game, we won the game.
“The Celtic support is what makes Celtic. The passion, the enthusiasm, everything we get here in this club’s status is built around the supporters.
“So, let’s not go too far down that route. We’re coming into a really busy period where the games may not play out the way we want them to, and that includes the players. But that support is absolutely massive for us, and it will be tonight, and it will be in other games.
“For me, it was just something to remind everyone of the feeling for the players, the importance of that backing and support, which, as always, is amazing.”

Rodgers has clearly had enough of the discussion regarding his comments.
Having been asked at length at yesterday’s pre-match press conference, he was clear in what he meant.
Not everyone will agree with what he said, but there is no need for further debate or discussion, especially with those in the Scottish media looking to create a rift between Rodgers and the Celtic fanbase, which is clearly not there.
