Celtic Summer Target set for Giakoumakis Link-up

Mateusz Bogusz, the Polish playmaker heavily linked with Celtic in the summer, is on the verge of an £8 million transfer to Mexican giants Cruz Azul.

The 23-year-old is set to leave MLS side Los Angeles FC after receiving a lucrative offer that includes a significant wage increase.

This financial package, combined with the Mexican club’s determination to seal the deal, has made it nearly impossible for any other suitors, including Celtic, to match.

The Liga MX side have already had one bid rejected by LAFC but are now prepared to meet the £8 million asking price, which should be enough to secure the transfer.

Bogusz would join former Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis in Mexico, who left Atlanta for the Mexican club.

Celtic were strongly linked with Bogusz during the summer transfer window, with manager Brendan Rodgers reportedly identifying the former Leeds United prospect as a potential creative spark for the team. Bogusz’s versatility, capable of playing as a central midfielder or further forward, would have added another dimension to the Hoops’ attacking options.

However, with the player now destined for Cruz Azul, Celtic will need to look elsewhere to bolster their squad in the attacking midfield area.
