Celtic have suffered a major blow this evening at St Mirren Park after Stephen Welsh was stretchered off in the 68th minute of the game.

Welsh took a sore one on the ankle and couldn’t get back to his feet as a result.

Shane Duffy had to come on for the rest of the game and could now get an unlikely third run in the team after being hooked a few weeks back.

The Irishman has been full of mistakes during his time at Celtic and has cost us goals and points.

Welsh was just starting to get a run in the team and was growing in confidence which is a massive blow for the young academy star’s development.

It doesn’t look good but we will hopefully get an update on the defender’s condition this evening.

In our starting XI reaction this evening we predicted Shane Duffy’s Celtic career was all but over unless this exact scenario occurred.
