Celtic Suffer £5M Transfer Setback – Report Claims

CELTIC have suffered a setback in the chase for Shane Duffy with Premier League side Newcastle joining the race alongside West Ham.

Steve Bruce is finally getting around to looking at the transfer market after the club was paused somewhat due to a Saudi takeover being in play. The deal fell through and Mike Ashley continues on with the club. The Magpies are now getting prepared for next season and they have sounded Shane Duffy as one of their top targets according to Football Insider.

The Irishman is surplus to requirements at Brighton but his club would most likely want to sell him on a permanent basis to raise funds for their own transfer dealings. Duffy is currently valued at just under £5m by Transfermarkt.

There’s no doubt Newcastle will be able to financially outmuscle Celtic to any deal both in terms of fee and wages.

People talk about Shane Duffy being a Celtic supporter and that should be enough for a deal to be pushed through but the player might not even get the choice.
