Celtic Striker Set for Premier League Trial

Celtic are on their guard from Premier League club Crystal Palace who are reportedly taking a look at developmental striker Michael Sparkes.

SunSport have revealed Palace are bringing the striker in for a trial this week. Sparkes has featured regularly for Celtic’s under 17 and 18s but it appears as if the club are open to the player leaving if he’s being allowed to head south for a trial.

The 17-year-old could make the move south if he impresses. If that’s the case, Celtic might not see any value in the players development at their end.

The club have four first-team strikers and more than a handful in the developmental squad. Just this weekend, Jonathan Afalobi moves out on loan to Dunfermline to get game time.

Celtic would be due some sort of fee if Celtic do let Sparkes head to England. Nothing too ground breaking but the youth system is pivotal for Celtic going forward and we must be sure before letting potential talent go.
