JOHNNY KENNY has joined Scottish Championship side Queen Park on a season-long loan. The 19-year-old went straight into the squad for the side’s visit to Arbroath, with the striker starting on the bench.
Celtic was keen to get the young player some first-team football, signing him from Sligo Rovers in January. He’s probably a few levels above the Lowland League, so joining Scotland’s second tier will do the player the world of good for his development.
There was thought to be interest from other clubs, north and south of the border, but staying in Scotland was a good choice from the player.
He joined Celtic’s first team for their pre-season training camp in Austria. He got some game time under his belt and even got on the scoresheet. It’s safe to say he was impressive but was still a raw talent.
Queens Park has been busy this summer following their promotion from League 1. Finishing fourth last term, the club was promoted through the play-offs and is now looking to challenge in the Championship this season.
