CELTIC FANS were resigned to losing Dedryck Boyata either in January in the summer but Brendan Rodgers recently revealed the player leaving wasn’t a foregone conclusion.
Add to the fact Celtic have just secured another two players on long term deals in Olivier Ntcham and Ryan Christie, there’s renewed hope a deal could be struck to keep the Belgium international at Celtic.
Speaking about Boyata’s contract situation earlier this month Rodgers was candid but hopeful:
“There is always a possibility, but we just have to see,” Rodgers told SunSport. “It is between him and the club.”
“What is good is that he is focused and playing well. His development in the last couple of years has been fantastic.”
Celtic are also looking to tie up Scott Brown on a new deal, it was back in September the Celtic Captain said a deal was close but he was not sweating the timeframe of him signing and it’s turned out it’s taking just a little longer than usual. It could be because both parties are so relaxed.
Rodgers has been on a mission to keep the spine of his team and making sure if any of his players do go then large fees will have to be paid out by clubs for them.
If Boyata does re-sign it will give credence to the Celtic fan ‘conspiracy’ that had Boyata and Christie’s shirts behind Ntcham as the Frenchman signed his new deal.
