Celtic have let go of Jozo Simunovic this summer with Kristoffer Ajer’s future very much up for debate. With that being the case, Celtic will certainly have to bring in reinforcements this summer.
According to Athletic journalist, Kieran Devlin, the club is STILL trailing Aberdeen’s, Scott McKenna. Speaking on the ‘Cynic Agenda‘, the journalist claimed the reality of the current situation meant Celtic were looking close to home for signings this summer.
If Celtic were to sell Ajer and bring in McKenna, it would appear like a backwards move.
The centre back is competent but when you compare the two, it’s not much of a contest.
McKenna revealed he was a Celtic fan growing up in an interview with The Scotsman a few months ago when he spoke about his dad having a season ticket for Parkhead.
“My dad was a Celtic season-ticker holder,”
“I went to a few Celtic games round the time they were doing well in Europe.
“I remember being there when Alan Thompson scored versus Barcelona. I used to love going to a midweek game at Parkhead under the lights.”
“Of course, when you play against Celtic for Aberdeen I want Aberdeen to win,” he added.
With the club going into a historic season whenever next term does kick-off, could there be a place for McKenna who would have the drive and edge to play for a Celtic side on the brink of history?
Aberdeen have always priced the player highly, but it’s a new kettle of fish when it comes to finances and they might not be able to hold out for the deal they want.
