Celtic remain in the frame for Feyenoord winger Calvin Stengs, despite reports that Leicester City have opened talks with the Dutch club over a potential deal.
Stengs, who has already been the subject of internal discussions at Celtic Park, has been tracked by Brendan Rodgers’ side for several weeks. CeltsAreHere exclusively revealed earlier this summer that Celtic had approached the player’s camp to explore the conditions of a potential move, but had yet to contact Feyenoord directly.
Now, with the Dutch side reportedly open to selling the 26-year-old this window, things are beginning to move.
Leicester have taken concrete steps toward a deal.
However, Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reports that Celtic have not been ruled out and could still make a move before the window closes.
Celtic are understood to be more likely to follow up their interest if they secure Champions League qualification on Tuesday night in Kazakhstan.

The financial boost from reaching the group stage, worth around £40 million, could provide the backing required to meet Feyenoord’s valuation.
Stengs, who was previously linked with a move to MLS and has Champions League experience, would fit Celtic’s need for a wide player with both creativity and pedigree. His ability to play off either flank or centrally as a creator adds to his appeal.
The race isn’t over, but it will now depend on what happens in Almaty. If Celtic get through, expect the Stengs interest to heat up quickly.
