Celtic Star’s Brendan Rodgers Admission

Jozo Simunovic hasn’t played since contributing to Celtic’s downfall against Copenhagen in the Europa League.

The defender was one of the fall guys on the night at Celtic Park.

It was just recently the player made his return after a five months stint out injured. When he originally came back into the side the Croatian spoke about the trust he has in Neil Lennon.

The defender also talked about Brendan Rodgers and the Irishman not favouring him towards the end of his Celtic run.

Jozo even makes the admission he though Brendan would go at some point which would hopefully help his Celtic career. Neil Lennon player Jozo a lot in the run up to the treble treble and even though he’s been injured for a large portion of this season, the centre-back has made 16 appearances for the club.

Speaking back in January, the defender seemed pragmatic when it came to first team selection under Neil Lennon.

“I felt good playing for Neil, although it’s always easy to put your faith in the only fit centre-half!” Jozo joked to RecordSport.

“At the end with Brendan it was a completely different story for me.

“But what can you do? I’m here, I’m a Celtic’s player, not Brendan’s player.

The player then went onto mention other offers Brendan had before moving to Leicester.

“So I just kept going and I was kind of expecting a time would come that Brendan would go – he’d had offers in the past before Leicester came in to take him away.

“But now it’s a new page for me with a new manager and I’m not thinking about Brendan’s era any more.

“I have a good relationship with the manager, we have a good connection.

“But all the players do – he doesn’t treat anyone as special which is good.

“There will be a time when you’ll need every player and they have to trust you as well.”
