Celtic Star Who Was Unfortunate Not To Be Named Man Of The Match; Opinion

Last night, it could probably be argued that all 11 players should have been awarded Man of the Match due to the level of performance and team effort that Ange Postecoglou’s side put in.

No man on the park could be faulted for their display, with Reo Hatate picking up the award in the aftermath of the game thanks to his involvement in all three of Celtic’s goals on the night and deservedly so for his impact.

However, one man, in my opinion, who was definitely up there with a shout for the award was right-back Josip Juranovic.

The full-back was one of nine new additions from this season to start in Postecoglou’s 11 last night, joining from Polish league side Legia Warsaw in the summer for a bargain price of just ยฃ2.5 million.

At times, the Croatian internationalist has had to bide his time for an opportunity in his more natural right-back position, switching over to the left-hand side due to injuries and the performances of Anthony Ralston.

But, in recent weeks, Juranovic has really been thriving in that area, showing why he is the number one right-back at the club at this moment in time.

His performance in last night’s game was absolutely superb and pretty much faultness, contributing massively to the Celtic attack down the right, as well as keeping Ryan Kent quiet for the entire 90 minutes.

The 26-year old even showed some brilliant moments of composure, controlling the ball from out the sky after a cross came in from the far side.

Fans and ex-players alike have been full of praise for Juranovic after his display last night, arguably putting in one of the best full-back displays in this fixture in recent times.

For the price he was picked up at, Juranovic just looks like a rolls royce of a player, who will take a lot to be shifted from that position now. Although, when needed, we have really good back-up in Ralston.

What is so brilliant about many players within this squad, it is only the beginning of their tenure at Parkhead, and there is likely even more to come.
