The 100-game milestone man at Celtic Park has been a rock in Brendan Rodgers’ side and has quickly become a fan favourite since arriving in January 2023. Johnston recently signed a long-term contract until 2029, securing his future at Celtic Park for the foreseeable. However, interest in the Best FIFA Men’s XI longlist nominee is expected to grow, with more Premier League and European clubs likely to come calling in the summer.

With four years left on his contract, Celtic are in a strong position to demand a hefty transfer fee if any club wishes to pry the defender away from Glasgow. Johnston has already been tipped as a potential future Celtic captain by some sections of the fanbase.

While there was firm interest in January, Celtic were never under pressure to sell, and the same will apply in the summer. With the club prioritising stability and European progression, any move for Johnston would require a significant offer to be considered.

At this stage, there is no suggestion that Johnston is unhappy at Celtic. However, with interest in his services growing, the club may need to brace for bids when the summer transfer window opens.
