Celtic star Ryan Christie has urged the Scottish Government to reconsider its self-isolation guidelines after testing negative for the virus six times, in between his 14-day isolation period.

As reported by the Daily Record, Christie believes that the after being tested on several occasions he should have been allowed to feature for Neil Lennon’s side in the Glasgow Derby by last weekend.

The attacking midfielder was forced into a 14-day self-isolation period after being deemed as a close contact to international team-mate Stuart Armstrong, who tested positive with the national side, alongside former Celtic team-mate and Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney.

Celtic had become frustrated though, as KT was free to play in Arsenal’s Premiership tie against Manchester City despite Christie not being allowed the same privileges.

Although I believe it was the right thing to do, keeping Christie in isolation as a precaution to follow the rules, you can certainly see why people are frustrated by this decision now.

After testing negative a whopping six-times it gets to a certain stage where you have to consider other options, especially when it was revealed that Tierney was able to play.

I don’t see the government changing any of these guidelines, despite some sort of pressure from Christie, as they would likely receive even more criticism for footballers having more ‘privileges’.
