Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers was an unused substitute in the USA’s 2-0 triumph over Bolivia in the Copa America overnight despite being fit and ready to play.
The Celtic stalwart was not called upon to see any action during what was a positive and winning start to the US campaign.
The United States started strongly, with Christian Pulisic opening the scoring in the third minute. The Milan star capitalised on a set piece, turning a corner taken by Timothy Weah into the opener. This early goal set the pace for a match where the USA maintained firm control.

Folarin Balogun doubled the lead just before halftime. In the 44th minute, he received a well-placed pass from Pulisic and converted it with clinical precision. Balogun’s goal provided a comfortable cushion that they never let go.
While it will be frustrating for Carter-Vickers to be snubbed by the USA coach, Celtic fans might be pleased to see their defender being rested. After a tough run of injuries last season, some time off the pitch could be beneficial with an eye towards the upcoming season.
Carter-Vickers will be eager to contribute in the upcoming fixtures as the Copa America continues. The Celtic star will hope to get his chances
Both CCV and Alistair Johnston are participating in the tournament and will likely be the latest bhoys back to Celtic Park this summer as the Hoops get ready for another season.
