Celtic Star States International Ambition

Celtic defender Cameron Carter Vickers has stated his ambition to become a regular within the American National team setup but insists his focus is fully on all things Celtic during an important run of games.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee has become a crucial part of Ange Postecoglou’s side since joining from the English Premier League side on transfer deadline day in the summer. So much so it has led to fans calling for the club to get the central defender tied down on a permanent deal.

Speaking to the club website, Carter Vickers has been delighted to be given that platform to try and win his place back in the national team, stating his hope to win his first cap since 2019 by continuing to perform in the Green and White Hoops.

“My dad is from the States, and growing up, I would go and visit regularly, so I have a real connection with the country.

“I would love to be back in the national team, but all I can do is focus on playing here, and hopefully, that will come.

“It’s a cliché, but I only look game-to-game. I would be lying if I said the end goal is not at the back of your mind, but I just need to focus every day.”

With the defender’s performances in the side this season, which has contributed to the Hoops having the best defensive record in the league so far, I am sure many fans would agree that CCV deserves his shot at international football.

If not, it won’t be long until we see the 23-year old break into the side and become a regular, with his abilities at the back.

Hopefully, we can see that come whilst he is still at Celtic, with Postecoglou, the fans and the club keen to see Carter Vickers stay in Glasgow for the long term.
