Celtic midfielder David Turnbull has revealed his delight at being called up to the senior Scotland squad for the first time ahead of this summers European Championships.
This morning, it was revealed that Turnbull had been selected as part of Steve Clarke’s 26-man squad that he will be taking to the tournament and speaking to the official Celtic website, the former Motherwell man revealed it has been a dream of his for a long time to get the chance to possibly represent his country next month.
“It’s a dream for every young boy growing up through the youth academies in Scotland and it’s always a dream to play for your National team.
“I’ve been lucky enough to do it on a few occasions with the youth teams and it’ll be good to do it with the big team now.
“It will be great to meet up with the boys and do my best in training and we’ll see where it takes me.
“I’m not expecting anything, I’m just going there to work as hard as I can. The rest is down to the management and the coaching staff to put their faith in me and I’ll respect their decision.”
If one Celtic player deserves a call-up after this season, it is certainly David Turnbull. The 21-year old was one of the very few shining lights about the season, even though it took him till around November/Decemeber time to get his chance in the side.

It is obviously unclear at this how much game time he may get at the tournament if any.
One thing is for sure, Turnbull will be a brilliant option for the Scotland boss to have if needed off the bench.
