Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi has made a significant change off the pitch, switching agents at the age of 29. The Japanese forward, who has been a key player for Celtic and is currently their only recognised striker, has left his long-term representatives ‘MORE THAN SPORT GMBH’.
The switch was confirmed on Friday afternoon when CAA Base, a prominent sports agency, announced on social media that Kyogo had joined their roster of clients.
Interestingly, this move links Kyogo with the same agency as former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou, the man responsible for bringing him to the club. It’s unclear if Postecoglou played a role in Kyogo’s decision.
From the club’s perspective, Kyogo’s contract still has three years to run, and there has been no indication of him being unsettled at Celtic Park. The striker has become a fan favourite since his arrival, and his performances on the pitch have been crucial to Celtic’s recent success.
However, the timing of the agent switch has led to speculation. It’s unusual for a player to change agents while in the middle of a long-term contract unless they have plans in motion. However, in modern football, the final two years of a contract often become a critical period where decisions are made about extending the deal or exploring new opportunities.

Kyogo’s move to a new agency could be a signal that he is thinking about his long-term future, whether that means securing an improved deal with Celtic or keeping his options open for a potential move elsewhere. For now, Celtic supporters will hope that the change is simply a move to secure the best possible representation and not a prelude to something more significant. As ever in football, time will tell.
