Celtic midfielder, Callum McGregor admits he and his team-mates know the importance of an on-form Odsonne Edouard after the 22-year old was the match-winner for the hoops on Thursday night.
As reported by the Glasgow Times, recent weeks, the Frenchman has come under some stick for his performances, due to his return from injury and fatigue and McGregor himself and the rest of the squad were compelled to get behind him and offer support, due to how important he is for the side.
”We always know that if he gets a half chance then you are always going to back him to score,” McGregor said.
“He maybe took a little bit of stick last week, but it’s our job to get around him and keep him happy and keep him confident.
“You saw just how important he is to us again on Thursday night. He gets the goal that takes us to the group stages, so again he is showing just how vital he is to the squad.
“He’s actually been good and in good spirits. I don’t think he takes too much notice of what goes on around about him. He’s just a good guy and he’s always very happy.
“Our job as teammates and as players is to keep everyone happy, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
We all know how crucial, Edouard is to the side. He can produce pieces of magic that not many can. So keeping him confident is massive in influencing how well we play as he really is the focal point of the side.
With only a few days left remaining in the transfer window, Neil Lennon and the board must do all they can to keep hold of a player with Edouard’s quality.
You can see what he brings to the side, even on an off day and this is further backed-up by his team-mates, like Callum McGregor coming out with comments like this
Fingers crossed he is still wearing the green and white hoops of Celtic, come Tuesday morning.
