Celtic Star Confirms He Wants New Parkhead Deal

There are a couple of notable players about to enter the last six months of their Celtic deals.

Among those players is midfielder turned centre back Nir Bitton. The player came back from a year long injury back in February and has seen some decent game time since under Neil Lennon.

However, as we approach the end of the year, Nir knows his future at the club is not guaranteed – even if Neil Lennon would like to keep him around.

The Irishman wanted Mikael Lustig to stick around but the powers that be wouldn’t offer him the length of deal the Swede wanted.

Looking ahead – the Israeli confirms he wants to stay at Celtic.

“Every season is important for a football player but, for me, this season is important because I finish my contract at the end of it. I obviously want to stay at Celtic for as long as I can.” Nir told the Celtic View (Volume 55, Issue)

“I see my kids speaking English, which makes me very happy, so it’s good for all of us, and as long as it continues I’ll be happy. But, of course, it’s football so you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, so we’ll see.”

Other notable players coming to the end of their deal would be Jonny Hayes and Craig Gordon. Both on the fringes of the first team squad – it will be interesting to see who Neil Lennon tries to keep around beyond the summer.
