Celtic Stadium Announcement a Potential Game Changer

Celtic have confirmed they’ve got the green light to sell alcohol INSIDE the stadium this coming Saturday, but only before the stadium officially opens for the game.

Alcohol has been banned at Scottish football games since the 80s, but there’s been a continuing softening of that stance, and this would appear to be the last stop before serious consideration is given to allowing the sale of alcohol during football games.

Since making the Kerrydale Suite a VIP area for ticket holders in the Jock Stein stand, the club opened a new bar for the fans before games.

They also opened the concourse on the West stand so supporters can find cover in the bad weather days while getting a soft drink and something to eat.

When the concourse is open, the doors to the stadium are closed. Fans need to filter back out before re-entering the stadium for the game. That’s where alcohol will be on sale ahead of the Kilmarnock tie between 11am and 1pm. It’s a potential game changer for fans. Could Scottish football supporters finally be allowed to have a beer while watching their team?
