On top of their official statement on the Celtic website on Monday night, the club have used a spokesperson to go into a little more detail on the club’s current grievance with the SFA.
Speaking to RecordSport, a Celtic insider told the tabloid the club were currently sending the SFA a list of incidents they have failed to tackle in several Glasgow Derby games while they hand a Celtic player a ban for the menial of offences.
The Celtic spokesperson even goes into detail about some of the incidents in question.
“It’s the inconsistency in the way the disciplinary procedure is handled which people find so difficult to understand.
“The club has a long list of incidents from recent derby games which went unpunished.
“Scott Brown was booted in the groin and Anthony Ralston had stud marks on his leg after being stamped on.
“There was also an incident between Morelos and Christie which was remarkably similar to the one for which Ryan has now been banned. But nothing happened.
“The official line from the SFA is that the referee saw all of those incidents at the time while Kevin Clancy didn’t see what happened between Christie and Morelos which is why it has been dealt with retrospectively.
“But when supporters see these kind of inconsistencies it’s no wonder they struggle to understand what’s going on.”
Ryan Christie has now been banned by the SFA for a grab on Morelos but as pointed out by us and the Celtic spokesperson, when roles were reversed in a Glasgow Derby game recently, Morelos escaped unpunished.
The Celtic spokesperson is absolutely correct to point out the inconsistency in applying the rules when it appears to advantage one club while disadvantage others.
