CELTIC has been linked to defensive midfielder Amadou Mbengue by Foot Mercato. The French outlet believes that Celtic are interested in the player.
Currently, the midfielder plays for Metz, who were relegated from the Ligue 1 last season, dropping down to the second tier of French football.
The player, who played twelve league games last season, can also play centre back, meaning he’ll be a valuable squad player to have at the club.
The Senegal-born player’s contract expires at the end of this month, according to Transfermarkt, meaning Celtic could snap him up on a free and only have to pay a development fee.
Celtic aren’t the only club interested in the 20-year-old, with Udinese also keeping tabs on Amadou Mbengue. In January, German clubs were in for the player, meaning it will be hard to see off foreign interest.
It’s a good transfer for Celtic, low risk with the potential of a high reward, given the player’s age and the fee that the Glasgow club will have to fork out.
