Celtic SLO Confirms Failed Fan Talks

A new Celtic fan initiative is trying to highlight the rising cost of supporting your team in Scottish football. Read more here.

However, unless the clubs agree to lose money then their efforts – at this point – appear to be in vain.

With the group raising awareness of the issue, many Celtic supporters have been discussing it among themselves on social media. There’s a large consensus for Celtic charging away fans £20 with the agreement Celtic fans will also be charged the same at away venues.

However, Celtic Supporter’s liaison officer has outlined why talks in the past have failed to find a resolution.

The smaller clubs in the league know they get the numbers with the big supports so to ask them to lower prices is effectively asking them to turn down revenue.

Then there will be Celtic fans who buy tickets on the day of a game for £30 wondering why a Hamilton supporter (for eg.) is being charged £20 to watch the same thing.

It would take a grown-up approach to find a proper solution. The only way supporters could effect change is to vote with their feet and leave the clubs with no revenue until they agree to a solution.

The EPL has capped their prices but it’s much easier for them to do so as they have fantastic TV and sponsorship deals. Ultimately, the ticket prices will keep rising – something must be done to not price football fans out of grounds across the country. The fans are the lifeblood of the game.
