There has been a lot of mixed reaction towards the new deal announced with the SPFL Premiership and Sky Sports.

One part of the deal which could benefit Celtic supporters is the addition of Pay Per View streams which will take effect immediately.

It will mean that Scottish clubs will be able to stream up to five league home games of their choosing as long as the game isn’t on Sky Sports or matches during blocked hours to viewers within the UK and Ireland.

The blocked hours rule means that games between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on a Saturday cannot be streamed meaning that had this addition been in place at the beginning of the season, Celtic fans would still have been unable to view their sides match against Ross County in early August.

Looking through the fixtures presntly, Celtic’s next three matches on the road in the league away to St Johnstone, Hearts and Livingston will all be shown live on Sky Sports

However, Celtic’s second last game before the World Cup away to Motherwell is not scheduled to be shown live meaning that Motherwell could potentially broadcast this game through Pay Per View.

With away allocations decreasing across the country, fans are still desperate to watch their team and many will be of the opinion that up to five games a season doesn’t go far enough with a club like Celtic having an interest for every home match.
