Celtic Sign Highly Rated Striker on Three-Year Deal

Celtic have signed young striker Joey Dawson with a view to putting the frontman in the nee Celtic colt side for next season.

The Hoops announced the move on Friday morning.

Dawson comes in from Scunthorpe and is credited with being the clubs youngest every debutant when he played in the League Cup for the English side back in 2019.

Dawson signed on as a Celtic player this week and spoke to Celtic TV about the move.

“I feel a bit overwhelmed,” he said. “Looking around the stadium, you can sense the magnitude of the club and it’s one of the biggest clubs in Europe without a doubt. After seeing the facilities and meeting the people, it’s an honour to be here and I’m looking forward to getting started now.

‘One thing that enticed me after talking to Chris McCart, Willie McStay and Tommy McIntyre was the winning mentality of this club and it’s something I want to be a part of.’

“That can only breed success and it’s definitely something I’m looking forward to.”

Joey has footballer’s in the family, his uncle is well known former England and Tottenham defender Michael Dawson

The youngster says his family have been advising him well.

“I’m very lucky to have my uncle Michael and my Dad there to advise me,” he said. “I used to sit down with my Dad and watch my games all the time. He would give me tips and he played the game for around 15 years so to have him as a supporter and parent has been invaluable to me.”

Celtic Colt’s side will enter the lowland league next month with strict rules on who the club can play. They also have to pay 25k admission to the league and cannot be promoted.

It will be great to see our youngsters able to develop under our guidance with some competitive football.
