You may of had an idea that Celtic’s defensive performance this season has top drawer, but Celtic’s defenders can go into a well earned break known that they have the best defensive record in SPFL history.
No doubt Jason Denyer and VVD can take a lot of credit for this welcomed statistic but a real question mark will hang over if the pair will be Celtic players next season. Denyer looks like a dead cert not to return and there is all sorts of price tags been stuck to big VVD.
The previous record was 18 goals in 2001/2002 season when Martin O Neill had Jackie Mac, Bobo Balde and Joos Valgaeren holding the line. This season Celtic only conceded 17 goals. Craig Gordon will clearly be due a lot of credit between the sticks. Gordon will be rewarded tonight for his amazing comeback and sensational performances this season.
