Celtic and other fellow Scottish Premiership sides would pay around £60,000 a year in order for VAR to be introduced in the Scottish game, it has been revealed.

As reported by the Scottish Daily Mail, Scottish sides will be asked to pay the fee to maintain the VAR system within grounds.

It was announced early this week that clubs will be presented with a proposal that would see the controversial Video Assistant referee system introduced by the 2023/24 season.

Of course, that doesn’t seem like too much for a club like Celtic. However, it will be interesting to see how other teams in the league react to the news of another bill being introduced.

It will also be intriguing to see the reaction of Premiership clubs if VAR was brought into the Scottish game.

With the poor officiating we have seen over the year, something definitely does need to change.

Whether VAR is the answer, that remains to be seen.
