Celtic haven’t brought in anybody this summer apart from Liam Shaw who signed a pre-contract in January.
There hasn’t been that first signing under Ange Postecoglou, but you get the sense it’s coming.
There has been rumours of defenders mostly being the top priority for Celtic at the moment. This has continued tonight with RecordSport’s report that Celtic are interested in Manchester City ’s Ko Itakura.
Ko has been at Dutch club Groningen for the past 18-months and has one-year left on his City deal.
Itakura is known to Ange Postecoglou and it’s thought the club are weighing up a move for the centre-back. Celtic have had plenty of dealings with City over the years. Jason Denayer and Dedryck Boyata both came from down south at one point.
It would stand to reason Celtic would be looking at players who might have not been on our radar before now. Ko, 24 can play in both defence of as a defensive midfielder and has been capped five times by Japan.
