Celtic Set for December Friendly

Celtic still have six games remaining before football pauses as players jet off to the World Cup with those left behind participating in a winter training camp.

The Hoops will travel to Portugal for their winter camp and are set to take on Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes [Ouest Frace].

Celtic not certainly not be stopping with Postecoglou looking to try and continue momentum even with some of his key stars set to be World Cup bound.

First up for the Scottish champions will be a visit down under to take on Sydney FC and Everton in the Sydney Super Cup as Ange Postecoglou takes his Celtic side back to Australia.

Following on from this tournament, players will be given a week off before returning and jetting off to Portugal where preparations will get underway for the remainder of the season.

This is a strange season for every club around the World Cup and with there being no winter break, the Hoops will enter a gruelling period of fixtures before the next international break which isn’t until late March.

The warm weather training camp and trip to Sydney will be a great chance for some of Celtic’s late summer arrivals to spend more time on the training pitch with Ange Postecoglou with player such as Sead Haksabanovic and Oliver Abildgaard missing out on a proper pre-season.

It will also be a chance for Carl Starfelt to get back into action with the Swedish defender preparing to return from injury.

Starfelt did not feature for Celtic during pre-season at all with this break being a good chance for him to get further involvement.

There is likely to be further fixtures announced while Celtic are in Portugal as they prepare for their first game back away to Pittodrie on Saturday 17 December.
