Celtic have agreed a deal to sign left-back Marcelo Saracchi on loan from Boca Juniors, with the Uruguay international expected to undergo a medical in London before completing the move.
The 27-year-old will come in to support Kieran Tierney on the left side of the defence, as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his defensive options ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.
However, it’s reported there is currently no option to buy included in the deal, though that could be revisited later depending on how Saracchi settles in Glasgow.
There was talk of a £2m option to buy being included in the agreement, but that hasn’t been ruled out.

The full-back, who previously played for RB Leipzig and Galatasaray, brings European experience and attacking threat to the role. He’s already familiar with Celtic Park, having played there during his time in Germany.
Saracchi’s addition gives Rodgers vital cover behind Kieran Tierney, with Hayato Inamura the only other available left-back in recent matches, who isn’t up to scratch defensively. The manager has been vocal about needing reinforcements in key areas, and with this move, the board have at least begun to respond.
Celtic are also closing in on a deal for winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha, with further movement expected before the window shuts next Monday. But for now, Rodgers is about to get a much-needed addition in a position that’s been lacking depth all summer.
