Celtic Revive Interest in Winger as Lazio Name Their Price

Celtic’s pursuit of Danish winger Gustav Isaksen appears far from over, as reports in Il Messaggero indicate the Scottish champions are making a renewed effort to sign the Lazio player in the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old winger, who joined Lazio from FC Midtjylland in August 2023, was on Celtic’s radar last summer, with the Hoops reportedly submitting a bid. However, Isaksen rejected the move, preferring to remain in Serie A and establish himself in Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Despite Isaksen’s initial snub, Brendan Rodgers’ side has not been deterred. With the January transfer window open, Celtic are said to have reignited their interest in the Denmark international, viewing him as a potential key addition to bolster their attacking options.

The Serie A side is holding firm on their valuation of the winger, reportedly demanding €15m (£12.9m), with Bologna also interested.

While Celtic’s ability to match that fee remains unlikely, given they splashed £9 million on Idah and £11 million on Engels in the summer, the Italian club is reportedly more inclined to wait until the summer to make a decision, hoping for a potential bidding war to drive up the price.

Celtic are in the market for a winger this month. But will they splash the cash on Isaksen?
