Celtic Reject Separate Giakoumakis Bid – Agent Set for Talks

Football Scotland report Giorgos Giakoumakis representative is scheduled to travel to Glasgow this week to complete the details of his Celtic departure.

Giakoumakis is set to depart Parkhead at the end of the month, with his representative, Blash Hosseini, travelling to Scotland this week to arrange the transfer. Several clubs remain interested in signing the Greek hitman from Celtic following failed contract negotiations.

Urawa Red Diamonds have reportedly made an offer of around £3million for Giakoumakis, which has been accepted by Celtic‘s Parkhead chiefs. However, the 28yearold is currently considering other options, with MLS side Atlanta United reportedly looking to make a deal.

The same report claims Celtic also turned down a bid from Sampdoria for their 10-goal striker. You have to wonder what that bid consisted of if Urawa’s low bid was accepted.

It would be a significant loss for Celtic to part ways with Giakoumakis, their top goalscorer in the league from last season, for such a minimal fee. Giakoumakis goal tally all the more impressive considering he missed nearly half the season due to injury.
