Celtic Reject EPL Approach for Matt O’Riley as Fee Revealed – Report

Celtic has rejected a transfer bid from Southampton for Matt O’Riley, as the Scottish club holds out for a higher fee.

Southampton’s offer, reported to be in the region of £14 million plus additional performance-related add-ons, was not sufficient to tempt Celtic into negotiations, reports SunSport.

The interest in O’Riley from Southampton is spearheaded by their manager Russell Martin, who previously managed O’Riley at MK Dons and is eager to bring him to the Premier League to strengthen his squad. However, despite this connection and Southampton’s readiness to spend following their promotion to the Premier League, Celtic’s stance remains resolute.

Celtic’s refusal to budge on their valuation comes after similar bids from Serie A club Atalanta were also turned down.

Celtic is holding out for a record-breaking fee for the 23-year-old Danish midfielder, in excess of £25 million.

These laughable offers of under £25 million will continue to be noted out by Celtic, and rightly so.
