Celtic Receive Surprising £4m Bid Ahead of Squad Revamp

Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk are actively pursuing Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu. The 23-year-old South Korean forward has been a key target for Genk this summer, and negotiations are reportedly ongoing.

Oh, who joined Celtic midway through Ange Postecoglou’s second season, has shown flashes of potential during his time in Glasgow. However, he has struggled to maintain consistent form. With an impressive goals-per-minute ratio, Oh often found himself either sidelined or failing to deliver in crucial moments.

The striker is reportedly keen on the move, eager to work under Genk manager Thorsten Fink. Fink’s reputation for nurturing talent, including Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-min Son, has undoubtedly played a role in Oh’s enthusiasm for the transfer.

According to Sky Sports, Genk have tabled a £4 million bid for Oh. The proposed transfer surely would expected to be a staggered payment deal, with Celtic receiving a portion of the fee upfront and additional payments potentially tied to performance-related bonuses over time. Celtic should bite their hand off if it’s near the £4m mark.

Oh’s potential departure could signal the start of a significant overhaul at Celtic Park. Several players are expected to leave as part of a broader strategy to refresh the squad. Identifying and offloading ‘deadwood’ will be crucial for the club as they prepare for the upcoming season.

One important thing to note — Celtic only have Kyogo and Oh as first team strikers at the moment. Adam Idah has gone back to Norwich on loan, so the bhoys may feel they can’t sell Oh until they’ve sorted out a replacement.
