Celtic Receive Injury Boost as Star Travels to Almaty

Celtic have flown out to Kazakhstan ahead of their massive Champions League qualifier against Kairat Almaty, and Adam Idah is among the travelling party despite being an injury doubt.

The squad departed from Glasgow just after 10 am this morning, with a planned refuelling stop in Turkey before continuing on to Almaty. They’re expected to arrive shortly after 7 pm UK time tonight, kicking off preparations for a tie that will define the early part of the season.

Idah’s inclusion is a notable development. The striker missed Saturday’s win over Livingston with a knee issue, and Brendan Rodgers had admitted he was touch and go for Tuesday night’s clash. However, the fact he’s made the gruelling journey suggests Celtic are keeping the door open for his involvement, potentially off the bench if needed.

With Kyogo gone and squad depth still thin up front, Rodgers will be hoping Idah can at least be part of the matchday squad in Almaty. Celtic need goals, and options are limited.

It’s a demanding trip – 3,500 miles across time zones and with temperatures expected to be high in Kazakhstan – but one Celtic simply have to embrace. Qualification for the Champions League, and a £40m windfall, is on the line.

Rodgers’ men need a result. And even if Idah isn’t fully fit, just having another attacking option available for what’s sure to be a tense 90 minutes could make all the difference.
