Celtic have reportedly received their first bid for French striker Odsonne Edouard from English Premier League side Brighton.
According to Stephen McGowan in the Daily Mail, the Seagulls have finally submitted an opening bid of around £18 million as they begin negotiations with the French under-21s frontman.
The race to sign Edouard appears to be heating up with reports from Sun Sport late last night, also suggesting that fellow EPL side Southampton have now entered the race to secure his signature.
Ralph Hassenhutl’s side is currently on the lookout for a new striker to replace Danny Ings, who made a surprise move to Aston Villa during the week.
Negotiations will continue over the weekend, with Brighton hoping to secure a deal early next week.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has admitted he will not stand in the way of Edouard leaving the club, so the funds from this sort of deal will likely be welcomed by the 55-year old.
Of course, it cannot be forgotten the sort of impact Edouard has had in his four years at the club. But with his contract running down into its final year this summer, the hierarchy will likely look at this as a good deal.
