It was reported on Wednesday night but now even Sky Sports are confirming Celtic are on the brink of landing Daizen Maeda.

The striker looks like he’ll be the first signing through the door at Celtic in January and shows the Hoops are not messing around in their pursuit of landing talent ahead of the restart.

The structure of the deal appears to be an initial loan move with an option to buy in the summer.

Daizen was joint top scorer of the J-League this season and has worked under Ange Postecoglou at Yokohama Marinos.

The success of Kyogo so far has opened the door for more talent to come in from the J-League. Celtic are using Ange as a super scout as well as a manager – trusting the Australian’s transfer instincts.

Maeda doesn’t look like he’ll be the only one heading in from Japan in January. It’s exciting times for the Hoops.
