Celtic Prospect Odin Thiago Holm on Norway’s Radar

As Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate faces a spell on the sidelines due to injury, a window of opportunity may be opening for young talent Odin Thiago Holm.

The promising midfielder, who has yet to start a league game for Celtic, has caught the eye with his impressive performances from the bench. With Hatate’s absence, Holm could be set to play a more significant role in the coming weeks, not just at his club but potentially on the international stage as well.

Norway U21s coach Jan Peder Jalland is keeping a watchful eye on Holm’s progress at Celtic. Speaking about the young midfielder, Jalland said [Daily Record], “Odin has since a young age been one of the players that we all think can be exciting and interesting with a lot of potential. He developed at Valerenga and has now made a new step to Celtic. It seems like it has been a positive start from what I have seen.”

Jalland, who recently analysed Holm’s performance against Aberdeen via Wyscout as he couldn’t attend the match himself, noted his versatility on the pitch. “I saw he played as one of two sixes; he could be a little deeper and helping attacks from behind. But he also has the freedom to go forward and create things, so, at the moment, it seems like a role that suits him very well,” Jalland observed.

Holm’s potential development under Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, known for his teams’ attractive style of play and results, is seen as a significant positive. Jalland added, “Odin is working with one of the better managers who has had a great career. I see that as something very positive and that it will benefit his development over this season and further seasons. I think at the moment he can play in different roles. Odin is so young you do not have to lock him into one position.”

As Holm continues to impress at Celtic, a call-up to the Norway U21s side could soon be on the horizon, marking another significant step in the young player’s burgeoning career.
